About love of God and other people

It's so easy to see what's wrong with the other people.

So easy to correct them, pick at them, critize them. Just totally know how they would be so much better if they would just be like you.

Have hateful conversations in your head where you're yelling at them how they should THINK or what they should DO.

Sometimes the other people are really hideous or do really disgusting things.

Sometimes they are hard to be around, or they smell bad. Or they have really ugly, old, broken clothes.

They have snot on their face, poop on their hands, their teeth are orange and they want to be close to you and talk with you.

What if God asked you to show His love to these people. These hideous, smelly people around you.

The ugly, poor, broken down people that are just so un-cool that nobody cares about them or their rights. Even their right to exist, or to be loved and cared for. Their right to be people.

“I know now that true charity consists in bearing all our neighbors'defects--not being surprised at their weakness, but edified at their smallest virtues.”
― Thérèse de Lisieux, Story of a Soul (l'Histoire d'une Ame): The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux

Proverbs 16:16 (NIV). How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver!

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend." --Martin Luther King, Jr.
